Uses for Vinegar
Here's a quick and inexpensive way to make your showerhead like new again. Unscrew the showerhead with wrench, and make sure to place a towel over it so you won't scratch it. Then remove the rubber washer. Pour equal parts white vinegar and water into a pot, bring it to a boil, and drop in the showerhead. Let it simmer for five minutes, and your showerhead should be running freely again. (Note: do not do this with a plastic showerhead)
While we're in the kitchen... if you're not getting as much drip these days from your drip coffeemaker, it's probably due to a buildup of lime or calcium deposits. Once a month, fill the water reservoir with white vinegar and run the coffee maker through a brew cycle. Then repeat the process with two cycles of cold water. Your coffee maker should be clear, clean, and ready to keep the Java flowing.
Vinegar is also good for your washing machine. Pour one cup of vinegar into your washer, and run it through a normal cycle without any clothes in there. The vinegar will clean out the hoses and unclog any soap scum in the machine.
And out in the great outdoors... if you have grass sprouting up between the seams or cracks in your sidewalk -- and it's about to make YOU crack up -- try pouring on a little white vinegar. It's a great way to kill the grass with harming the environment.
